Students may sit for a national certification examination offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to become Certified Professional Coders (CPC). As an alternative, graduates are eligible to sit for a national certification examination offered by the American Health & Information Management Association (AHIMA) to become Certified Coder Specialists (CCS). Fees for either one of these exams, but not both, are included in the cost of the program.

Simple Application Process

Grantham University’s Student Advising and Learning Center (SALC) offers tutorial assistance to any student who experiences academic difficulty and needs individualized attention in order to understand fundamental concepts and principles of a course. The SALC offers tutoring in all undergraduate academic programs and is available to students on an as-needed basis.

WCU Career Service information includes our Career Development Workshop that can help you craft a resume that is the best possible representation of you. The workshop also covers how to get the interview, succeed at the interview, and how to compare and negotiate employment offers.

ACC’s faculty and staff are committed to helping students achieve their educational goals. Our faculty members draw upon their own experiences in the healthcare industry to provide our students with in-depth training and education. All programs are a blend of classroom and hands-on training, with many programs ending with an externship in a local healthcare facility.

American Career College also works closely with students beyond the classroom. The Student Services department offers new student orientations, student appreciation days, and advising/tutoring assistance for those who are interested. After completing school, the graduate employment assistance program offers networking, resume, interviewing, and other job search help.

American Career College is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. Some programs also hold programmatic accreditation or approval.

For those who are interested, ACC also offers a GED test preparation program for students. The program includes practice testing, tutoring, and study materials. The GED examination is then held on-campus in a comfortable classroom. The GED program is not accredited.

Academic Programs

Business – Offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs that are targeted at high-demand professions in business and technology.

Criminal Justice – Designed for those starting or improving careers in fields such as law enforcement, private security, and corrections.

Health and Medical – Assists in getting ready for healthcare management roles with such organizations as hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory care centers, and home health agencies.

IT/Technology – Offers specializations via bachelor’s and master’s programs. Design to give students a baseline understanding of topics important to successful IT in business. Coursework includes simulations, hands-on exercises, and real-life experiences.

Specialty – Gives students the chance to build on their education in a selected field with the convenience of Virginia College’s Online environment.

Learning Options
Students have the flexibility of completing coursework online at any time of the day or week via any quality internet connection. Students are given class work and deadlines with each course’s syllabus.

Faculty
Instructors in these programs are educators experienced in presenting distance learning courses. The school emphasizes that faculty and staff communicate regularly with industry leaders to help ensure that courses remain current with practices and trends.

Student Notes
All applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Admissions associates discuss other academic courses necessary for admission to specific program. The admissions assistants also talk to prospective students about equipment and technical requirements for online studies. A representative of the Financial Aid department works with students to find the appropriate sources of funds including scholarships, grants, and loans. The school’s Career Services Associates work with students to help them move into new careers or enhance existing ones.
